About the AMEC Program

 

AMEC is a pipeline which includes all components of physician medical education and provides opportunities for interested and qualified students.  There are two plans for entering the program: The Partnership Plan and the Traditional Plan

 

 

The Partnership Plan

 

The following is a breakdown of requirements for a prospective student from one of the  participating institutions to meet prior to being accepted into the program:

 

·         ►    ACT Score - at least 26

·     ►    Freshman year academic performance

·     ►    Community service

·     ►    College and high school activities

·     ►    Knowledge of and dedication to the field of osteopathic medicine

 

The MCAT is NOT required for admission to this program. Once the student is accepted into the program, there are additional requirements that must be accomplished.  This information is available by calling the AMEC office.

 

 

 

The Traditional Plan

 

The Traditional Plan is the regular admission procedure.   Call the AMEC office at (251) 947-6288 for a detailed explanation of this program.

 

 

 

How Do I Apply to Participate in the AMEC Program/How to Apply

 

1. Contact the AMEC office at (251) 947-6288 to alert the staff of your interest.  They will discuss the program with you.
2. Review the descriptive information posted on the AMEC Web site.
3. Call the office back once you are ready to proceed with further discussion.
4. Complete the  AMEC Application on the Application page of the website   and send it to the AMEC office
5. An interview will be arranged for each applicant who qualifies.
